Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on January 28, 1981, Elijah Wood began his career as a child model and commercial and television actor. His starring role in 1990's Avalon pushed him into the spotlight, and a series of high-profile roles followed in films such as Paradise (1991), Radio Flyer (1992), Forever Young (1992) and The Good Son (1993).
His work took on a mature tone with director Ang Lee's The Ice Storm (1997), which was followed the next year by appearances in ensemble films such as Deep Impact and The Faculty. It was his work in the latter that attracted the attention of director Peter Jackson, who cast Wood as hobbit Frodo Baggins in his Oscar-winning Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001-2003).
Since then, Wood has selected parts in darker, edgier films, including Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) and Sin City (2005).

Elijah Jordan Wood (born January 28, 1981) is an American actor and music executive. A professional actor since the age of nine, Wood is best known for the role of Frodo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy. He took to the stage in his elementary school's staging of the play The Sound of Music. The following year, he graduated to the title character in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Wood also served as choir boy during the production of See How They Run, produced by the Marion Creative Council.
Making his film debut with a minor part in Back to the Future II (1989), Wood landed a succession of subsequent larger roles, and became a critically acclaimed child actor. His performance in The War gained him a nomination for a 'Young Star Award' (for which he was nominated five times, and won once), and Roger Ebert said in his review of the film that Elijah Wood has emerged, I believe, as the most talented actor in his age group, in Hollywood history.[1]
His role as Frodo in The Lord of the Rings made him a star, but he has resisted typecasting by recently choosing varied roles, such as a stalker in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the mute cannibal Kevin in Sin City and a eccentric collector in Everything Is Illuminated.

First off, it's ELIJAH Wood.
And I can't believe no one's mentioned his main role in Happy Feet. I'm surprised that the most controversial movie this winter didn't get a single line...
Anyway, he was awesome as a happy-turned-twisted control freak Frodo Baggins as he slowly gets corrupted by the one ring...
