I don't know, it's an ancient commercial. Maybe they starved a mutated talking rat, stuffed it inside a Parquet margarine box. And maybe the rat really wasn't talking to the people; maybe it was so grateful that it had oil based sustenance that it was in a trance! "Butter!" "Butter!" "Butter!" Maybe it was getting off because rats live to eat, and at a crucial moment, it roared: "PARQUET!!!!!!" In any case, that rat is dead. The answer to whether or not that rat really couldn't believe it wasn't butter, I'm afraid is forever lost.
