It all comes down to respect. The hecklers showed none and Richards returned the gesture. If blacks would stop using the word themselves, instead of putting it in every other stupid rap song, maybe it would disappear. And you do know that if you allow a word to have power over you, then you are just as racist and foolish.

If you wish to make yourself a victim and use the common whine "As long as it only offends "white America" it is acceptable.", that's fine, it's weak, but you can hold to that if you want to.
Most of us Black people do not think or act as you would like to think, and we tire of people always using our worst examples to justify their rational.
I never blame an entire people for what one person does, as a matter of fact I will not even name any such people, I don't keep a score card. There is plenty of stupidity going around in all colors.
That being said I will say this, When you get mad at someone and one of the first words out of your mouth have are derogatory comments based on race, guess what, your a racist.

What Michael Richards did grow to be disgusting and uncalled for. He would say he grow to be only attempting to defuse the region or that he did no longer advise it, however the wear and tear has already been carried out. i'm sorry your emotions are harm. Whoever says that words won't have the ability to harm you of course has in no way dealt with racism. the sorrowful fact is that we are in a position to in no way desire to particularly eliminate bigotry, yet we are in a position to a minimum of supply up as lots of it as a threat. P.S. - even with what Michael Richards mentioned, do no longer any of you assert "Kramer is a racist". The Seinfeld character Cosmo Kramer grow to be based off an honestly guy or woman named Kenny Kramer and he's deeply disturbed that folk associate him with Richards.

ALL celebrities owe common decency to the public. That comes with the territory. There is no law against being a racist in private. I have met many black racist in my time. I was victimized by black kids when I was in the white minority at school. As an adult I am not a racist & I keep my distance from bigots. I judge people by their actions rather than by their labels.

We? There's not enough blacks in media for you to justifiably say that it is blacks who won't let this die down. In fact, most black people i know including myself truly don't care. i don't buy the whole "it's the heckler's fault" thing, because a comedian is supposed to keep his cool and be funny but really, it isn't a black person who started this question, and really it isn't black people who keep asking blacks how they "feel". yes, the "NAACP" may have jumped in but they do it all the time and they aren't representative of blacks, which i guess America hasn't figured out yet.

I honestly feel bad for the guy. The punishment he is taking is not fair and it will ruin his life. How many times has he apologized and how many times have we seen the clip? Those hecklers are getting off scot free for instigating the whole mess and it's no secret that they are racist themselves.

I completely agree! Everytime I see the clip on TV I get infuriated. So he said the "n" word. So what. He was being called worse by the guys in the audience!!!! People are making a mountain out of a molehill and eventually it will blow up in their faces!

When Mel Gibson said all that stuff against the Jew's no one was telling people to lay off him. It seemed like the whole world was against him. But its a whole different story when it comes to someone saying something racist against blacks.
