I understand that MP3 players don't have the memory that i-Pods do, but, beyond that, what are the differences that create such a diversity in pricing?

The main differences between an mp3 player and an ipod are that mp3 players are better! you get more for less money. mp3 players come with voice recording and fm radio on them unlike ipods. the reason why the prices are so different is because when you buy an ipod you're paying for the brand. that's all. ipods seem to look spiffier so everyone wants one. I have a Creative Zen V Plus and i love it!

Take a look at these links. It will explain the features of both the iPod Nano and the iPod Video. When you are finished looking at these links, you will probably realize that the iPods are much better than any MP3 players on the market.
