The best answer must be easy to understand using simple words, and have enough info to fill half a page of bullet point.

I also need plenty of web sources. Good Luck!

This is the project to map out the human DNA, which is made up of billions of combinations between the four proteins that make up DNA. Once it was mapped, it was hoped that work could begin to figure out which genes affected what in a human. There is no once "human genomre", and the sample they have mapped will be slightly different than your own genome, but more than 99% of all of our genes are the same. Wikipedia has a great deal of information, plus links to reputable sources of information at the bottom

WELL TO START WITH
THE ENTIRE HUMAN BODY IS MADE OF CELLS AND EACH CELL HAS A DARK COLOURED REGION AT IT CENTER WHICH IS KNOWN AS NUCLEUS.THIS REGION HAS THREAD LIKE STRUCTURE CALLED CHROMATIN .THIS THREAD HAS THE BASIC INFORMATION FOR THE CELL'S SURVIVAL.IT HAS THE INFORMATION FOR ALL THE CELLULAR PROCESSES IN IT IN THE FORM OF DNA MIXED WITH PROTEIN CALLED HISTONES.TOGETHER THEY MAKE THE CHROMATIN .
NOW THIS DNA IS A TWISTED LADDER HAVING FOUR BASE PAIRS CALLED ADENINE, GUANINE, CYTOSINE AND THYMINE IN VARIOUS ARRANGEMENTS.
MANY OF THESE ARRANGEMENTS ARE COMMON FOR ALL HUMANS.LIKE THOSE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF REQUIRED PROTIENS IN CELL, PRODUCTION OF ANTIBODIES FROM SPECIAL CELLS ETC.
THE HUMAN GENOME PROJECT IS A WORLD WIDE PROJECT TAKEN UP BY MANY GENETIC REASERCHERS TO COMPLETELY DECODE OR SAY COMPLETELY MAP THE COMBINATIONS OF THE FOUR BASES PRESENT IN THE ENTIRE HUMAN DNA FOR MANY USEFUL REASONS LIKE DISCOVERY OF REASONS FOR DISEASES , DISCOVERY OF MEDICINES ETC.
THE PROJECT IS ALMOST COMPLETE EXPECT SOME MINOR PARTS OF THE DNA.IT IS ON ITS WAY TO COMPLETION.
IF YOU GO INTO YAHOO OR GOOGLE.COM HOME PAGE AND TYPE HUMAN GENOME PROJECT IN THE SEARCH AREA YOU WILL GET LOADS OF WEBSITES INFORMATION ON THE PROJECT.I CANNOT MENTION ALL THOSE WEBSITES HERE SO YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS.
ALL THE BEST FRIEND.
