he has never once forgotten it until today and he always speaks of it in advance. i don't really see it as significantly important but i'm thankful, blessed and appreciate he even remembers it let alone celebrating it. it's already enough to know he never forgotten.

We tend to forget the meaning in everything nowadays, especially because of gifts and all that.
Every year, we honor the fact that we are alive. Others honor our place in the world, and in their lives personally.
Some people are horrible with dates, or just plain days of the week.
It feels terrible when our closest loved one forgets our special day.
And yet, the real question is: Does this person find other ways and times to honor our presence in her/his life?
In the long haul, the spouse who remembers only on special occassions and acts like an ignoramus the rest of the year gets a much lower score than the one who is mindful of the spouse year-round!
That's almost like actually, really, having Christmas all year long, like the priests and Christians themselves pine for in January.
That's the highest goal of all.
So, it's really a balance. If people celebrate you all the time, then who cares about one lousy day?

It's not really important to me that much. I mean I like to give others gifts for theirs but I don't care if I get one from anyone. A card is nice though. ;o)

My husband and I always make a big deal about each other's birthday and we never forget. In fact we start planning it about a month in advance (for each other). It's a special time for us, when we can show our love for each other, how much we think about and put effort in.
