I am buying a wrx. The parkers guide parkers.co.uk list two models of the same year that look the same (2003 53 reg). Listed as WRX 2.0T AWD saloon and a WRX 2.0T 4WD saloon. Are they they same?

Really they are quite the same, however it is defined as "AWD" is more common on road use where power is in all the wheels and 4WD is seen to be designed for more rugged off-road use like trucks. I own an Impreza and know that since the Impreza family was created that it was always AWD and not 4WD. I think it could be a misprint.

All Subaru's made after 1997 are all wheel drive. There are a few dealers and people in general that will never let go of the term 4 wheel drive but they are 2 completely different things. Both of the cars you are looking at though are all wheel drive.
