Young people have intense emotions, especially teenagers, and a lot of issues. They drink to escape from their problems temporarily, as well as to lose their inhibitions that they have as a result of their emotional problems. There is also probably a bit of rebellion against the parents and society thrown in there too for good measure. They feel wild and free when drunk, and when they are sober, they feel all their insecurities and limitations which inhibit them a lot. The permanent cure to this of course, is to heal yourself and love your authentic self to the extent where you can be "free" without alcohol - but our society is sorely lacking in guidance in that department. Sometimes it spirals farther into alcohol and drug abuse, depending on the personality and how damaged they are.

Unfortunately, sometimes the parents have killed off their own emotions to an extent where they can't even relate to the younger generation - which is unfortunate. They could impart much wisdom.

Because yong people are stupid. We think we know everything and we don't. I think young people like being drunk because of peer presure to be cool. Look at all the teenage movies. What are the doing. They are drinking and doing drug's. T.V has a definite hand in teen drinking as well the example we show as adults to our children. Have a great day and good luck on you study.

unless you did it when you were younger you do not understand.

im 24 and my and my mates used to get a bottle of cider or lambrini and get drunk in the garages on friday nights.
part of it was knowing that we shouldnt be doing it and that made it more fun.
we sang songs, flirted with lads (we wouldnt of dared to flirt with them at school) and just had a good laugh.
i wouldnt of said i enjoyed myself more some nights i didnt drink if i had no pocket money so i would just watch and laugh at the others.

i guess its the social aspect more than anything.
but one thing is we never got violent and started fighting as we couldnt afford to buy enough alcohol to get us into that state.

so i reckon the teenagers 2day get too much pocket money.

People tend to relax more when drunk...let go of inhibitions (sp?)
But, I don't believe that they are having more fun. I think that it can be quite embarrasing the next day, when you look back and see that you made a complete fool of yourself...that is, if you even REMEMBER! How fun can that be?

people get drunk because they want to escape the real world. Usually there is something they don't like about this world.

Its the bit natural, youu get senseless and you forget what you are really in. So people drink to forget the opains of life.

Getting drunk alters your perception, some people hate themselves so when they get drunk their perception of themselves is changed and they like themselves.

I think that young people think it's going to be like a release but they end up just hurting there minds when they get drunk. on average if people get drunk they kill like alot of brain cells every time they decide to get drunk.

the joy is an illusion. it is a self destruct mechanism. they are actually making themselves sick, and everyone around them is the same sick, so they don't see a way out and continue into adulthood.
