After no.4 Florida beat no.8 Arkansas, do you feel that Florida should move past Michigan and play Ohio State for the national championship?

I feel that a rematch with Ohio State and Michigan would give an unfair advantage to Michigan. Ohio State / Michigan is a huge rivalry, and for either team to win 2 games in the same season is near impossible. Secondly, if Michigan does beat Ohio State by say 1 - 3 points, does that really make Michigan the better team and a national champion? I don't think that it does, They would both have the same record beating each other by the same (or close to the same) margin. How could you really claim Michigan the national champs? You couldn't.

The 2 best teams will be in the game.. Ohio State and Florida.. Floridas going and deserve to and here's why.....:

Offensive TD's Scored:
FLORIDA - 44
USC - 43
Michigan - 41

Average Yards per Play:
FLORIDA - 6.51
USC - 5.95
Michigan - 5.64

Top 25 Defenses Faced:
FLORIDA - 5
Michigan - 3
USC - ZERO

Losses to UNRANKED teams:
USC - 1
FLORIDA - ZERO
Michigan - ZERO

Losses to Top 15 teams:
FLORIDA - 1
Michigan - 1
USC - ZERO

So it must be a problem with our defense, you say?

Scoring Defenses:
FLORIDA is #4 Nationally (allowing 12.3 per game)
Michigan is #9 Nationally (allowing 14.6 per game)
USC is #13 Nationally (allowing 15.1 per game)

SO...

The University of Florida has scored more Touchdowns than USC or Michigan... gained more yards per play than USC or Michigan... all against much tougher defenses than those faced by USC or Michigan... and has a BETTER DEFENSE than USC or Michigan...

When did it become more important to earn these "style points" (buzz word for what a team that the media wants to put #2 has and a team that the media doesn't want to put #2 does not have, whatever it might be) than to play and beat good competition?

Difficult (and excellent) question. Oddly enough most agree Michigan is the better of the two teams (and I agree) both from their resume (better wins and a "better" loss) and perceived potential. But I also have come to the conclusion after arguing against it for so long that Florida should go. Even though the BCS is *supposed* to pit #1 vs #2 in theory and even though I hate to see Urban Meyer get his way after the way he has whined and threatened and politicked for something I don't personally feel he deserves, in the end there will be less controversy this way. If OSU humiliates Florida and Michigan takes care of USC the AP voters will still rank Michigan #2 even if they aren't allowed to go to the Rose Bowl. In a way it's unfair to Michigan and it certainly isn't what the BCS participants agreed to base their votes on but in the end it will appear fairer to the other five major conferences if the BigTen isn't alone in the game and both the SEC and Pac10 get a shot at them AND it's more fair to the BigTen because their victory (if indeed OSU prevails) won't be tainted by controversy and in fact the conference could win both the National Title AND the Rose Bowl if they are as good as those pushing for Michigan to go to Glendale believe. Besides Michigan should be happier to go to Pasadena, no chance of losing to OSU twice (would never and I mean NEVER live that down) in the same year and as far as wanting vengeance they can try to get that next November in Ann Arbor as always. I hope those entrusted with votes do what they think is right and I do think Michigan is the better of the two teams but nobody should be disappointed with either result because both will be representing their conference at the premiere bowl FOR their conference if they aren't chosen, the same place they'd have gone before the BCS (except in Michigan's case as #2 in the BigTen they'd have missed the trip out West so even if they don't remain #2 in the nation they're still better off).

Man, I'm so tired of hearing how much better the sec is to the big ten. If Michigan and Ohio st were in the sec they would be playing for the sec championship. when Penn st came into the big ten they were suppose to dominate, yea right. the big ten is a much tougher confrence then givin credit for. I'd so like to see any one of those southern schools come up to the big house or the horseshoe and play in november. just look at this do u think florida has a better qb than michigan? better running backs? How bout recievers? A better D? how bout O line? I can't say in all honesty florida has a better anything than Michigan.. Nuff said!!!!

I agree with Mr2fis, btw the BCS title game is not supposed to be about a battle of confrences!

Here's my BCS rankings:

1. Ohio State (Their undefeated...duh!)

2. Michigan (Only loss came against OSU, and they are also in Big 10)

3. Florida (Just to make you happy, btw they played one more game than Michigan has)

4. Wisconsion (they share the same record as Michigan)

what does this equal to:

BCS IS SCREWD UP, AND THE NCAA IS RETARDED!

Florida. Michigan has already proven they cannot beat Ohio State. Plus, Florida had a much tougher schedule and is the champion of their conference.

I agree with you Michigan had their chance and did not win. What we need is Florida to play Michigan 12/17 in Ohio Stadium. The winner plays the Bucks in Glendale AZ
GO BUCKS!!!!

No i Dont think Florida should be number 2 . I think you now have to look at there one loss, michigan 42-39 loss to ohio state in columbus. a 10 point loss at auburn. and also if your in vegas and were a betting man and florida was playing Michigan on a netural field michigan would be 6 point favorites

Florida definitely deserves to go. they've beat better teams and won their conference that is the toughest conference ...in my opinion AND all the sportscasters. A rematch between OSU and Michigan would be stupid. if michigan won could you really consider them the champions....since they lost to them earlier in the year...i wouldn't think so. It's just simple hard to beat the same team twice in the same year....and they happened to be the ones to lose first, so they're due for a win...

The funny thing is that everyone, including Florida fans, are arguing that Florida should go because its fair, because Michigan had their shot, because Florida won the SEC.
Noone is arguing that Florida should go because they are the second best team, because noone thinks they are.
Isn't the BCS title game supposed to be played by the two best team, period?

Michigan, since they are the second best team- period. It is just an utter shame. Both are great teams, and deserve to play for the championship. GET RID OF THE CURRENT BCS.
