HI
In the spring if the goldfish is in good condition the females get a bit plumbed up[get fat] and the males get white tubercles around the gill plates

If it's mouth is open all the time it's a female

Do you have any other fish? If they look as if they're mouthing the name "Bob" then he's male :-)
