I really need to know your opinion, because I'm an English teacher in Korea and the books I'm teaching are hilarious! It says that we decorate fig trees during the Christmas season and other silly stuff! I'm South African, so I know whazzap, but I need some good answers to show my students the real South African flair. These kids will believe everything they see on the net!

oooooo I love Christmas!!!!

We usually put us a Christmas tree on 1 December! Everybody helps decorating the tree, it is soooo nice. Then we start shopping for presents. This year we made a rule that the present for the reason that Christmas isn't about presents, the presents may not exeed a limit of R100 (But mine is way over the limits). I love buyng presents for people that I would like to have, sometimes I end up keeping the present and buying something else for that someone! LOL!!!! On 24 December my Granddad will read out off the Bible (about the Birth of Jesus), then we sing a few Christmas Carols and then, we give out presents (my Granddad is the Father Christmas) We've got a rule, not to open the present untill everybody received the presents. We will then have a light meal. On 25 December, we will have a nice lunch (Turkey, leg of lamb, ect) and lots of salad! And then the "poeding", mmmmmm!!!!

I love Christmas, it is a time I can spend with my family, talking about the year, having some fun, enjoying each others company. Saying Merry Christmas to people you don't even know....., caring and living in peace! Even for just a day!

We have fun! South Africans start to prepare for Christmas from early November. Relatives and friends visit each other with happy and joyful hearts. Many people visit their anchestral homes on Christmas Eve. The children and young people decorate any tree outside. Not fig trees! Any tree will do. Not only homes, but schools and neighbourhoods are also brightly decorated with street lights and shops go all out with lights and wrapped articles.
