It has nothing to do with superiority!
The UK is geographically separate to the rest of Europe and for that reason it is a bit difficult for us to integrate with other European countries that have more in common geographically and culturally.
There were supposed to be various benefits to joining the EU, many of which have never materialised - we tend to get the crappy end of the stick and none of the good stuff like the cheap food, cheaper fuel etc etc that are enjoyed by our European cousins. In fact the only thing we tend to get from Europe is all the immigrants that the other EU countries don't want.
A good deal of the people in the UK wish we'd never bothered joining the EU in the first place - it's more trouble than it's worth.

You delude yourself. France is the clear winner in the EU, growing fat and rich at at the expense of other countries. The UK being an island race and former Empire can smell a rat when there is one. The only example you give of so called intergration is the euro. Most of the original countries who signed up for that currency want to revert to their former currencies!

Because in the early 70,s people idealistically thought it was the way ahead. Now it seems to be more negative than positive for the UK so I think its time to make our polite apologies and leave the rest of the member states to it, and best of luck to them, I mean that. The EU will no doubt find its own level, finance and politics wise but why should we give up the right to choose how to run our own economy, taxation, legisation etc etc etc.... The operative word in your question appears to be "seems" Would you make irreversable changes to your life and future on the weight of a maybe, perhaps, appears to be, or a "seems" d**m sure I won't. Close links yes, tied to, I way....
