That is not a very long time. Get the DK London book and study it and see what you really want to see. The British Museum is wonderful. Kew Gardens is my favorite place on earth. The weather may be cold or wet, bundle up and walk a lot. I love the Eye of London if the view is clear. I love riding the trains and busses and looking at all the architecture and hustle and bustle.
Don't let other people tell you what to do, especially since you are there for such a very short time. If the weather permits the boat rides on the Thames are great and you end up at the National Maritime Museum.
Have Fun, I envy you!

There is lots to do, it just depends on your interests. In just three days, you will really have to cram alot of sight seeing in. Take the Big Red Bus tours, and they will give you a good "lay of the land" and help you decide what you want to come back to, to see more of. It should also include a nice boat ride down the Thames so you can see the Tower of London and the Bridge from that. You should see a play or two...you should go to Buckingham Palace to see the changing of the Guards (go early to get a good spot) and while there you can see the Royal Mews. The British Museum is a must see, I think. Westminster, Big Ben....There is just so much!

My wife and I just got back from London (we went there, Paris, Florence, Pisa, and Rome) a few months ago.
We spent a few days in London and here's what I'd recommend:
- Westminster Abbey
- Tower of London
- Parliament./Big Ben
- Picadilly Circus
- Trafalgar Square
- a theater show in West End
- a professional football (soccer) match
Expect to spend quite a bit in London. The exchange rate is terrible (about 1.8 to 1)... so, everything costs the same in London as it does in the US... however, it's in pounds instead of dollars... so, everything is almost double. Ugh.
Hope this helps. Take care.

Gee 3 days is not much time as there is so much to see, but my choice would be Covent Garden, Soho, West End, Westminster, The Tate & National Gallery & Britsh museum.
