I know, I have seen people that rate an answer with a thumbs down when they are making a valid point. It's just an opinion rater. It doesn't really affect the outcome. It will in the final wash when you rate the answer. That is where the thumbs up approval rating is crucial. The questioner that gets a thumbs up for their best answer gets a point. So, when you give them the best answer, don't forget to give them a thumbs up for it. I do all the time.

The reason you got 9 Thumbs down on your question
is: because the same question has been asked a
100 times and more. Same question over and over again.
The reason for 10 Thumbs up - 9 from people who thought
your question is a good one and the 10th is from me -
just to tip the scale between good and bad.
Neutral is good: 0 Thumbs up and 0 Thumbs down.

I know it!! Someone asked a question about some woman. I did not know who this person was, so I asked who they were. I received about 10 thumbs down (she turned out to some wrestler). I guess it is just a way for people to indicate their dislike with an answer, for what ever reason. It is kind of like the "free market place of ideas" concept. Were we all have the right to put our ideas out there, and the ones people like get promoted, and the ones people don't like get thrown a side.

There are alot of people that are negative and think askers are asking dumb questions. Thumbs down does not bother me, it is only the Thumbs up that I pay any attention to. :)

I don't know...some people just have different views I guess and one person's reasonable thought out answer is another person's poor response...what are you going to do? Also, sometimes I think people like to harp on little things like you might get a thumb's down because of a poorly constructed sentence or misspelled word.

Trolls.
Some people go around and give thumbs down for perfectly valid questions, just because they can.
Same thing for answers as well

That's just a play toy for some. I have seen lots of answers with lots of thumbs down as well. And some need to be. But i guess lots are here for fun and pleasure of criticizing others.
No harm none if that's what they enjoy.

i understand, I definitely have considered people who value an answer with a thumbs down on an identical time as they are making a valid element. it quite is basically an opinion rater. It does no longer quite effect the top result. it is going to interior the stunning wash as quickly as you value the respond. it quite is the placement the thumbs up approval score is critical. The questioner that gets a thumbs up for their stunning answer gets a element. So, as quickly as you grant them the stunning answer, do now no longer ignore approximately to grant them a thumbs up for it. I do all the time.
