Since minority students, particularly boys, are failing in American public schools, why doesn't the TEACHER'S UNION care or incorporate "student rights" into their contracts?

Is it purely racism/discrimination or "business as usual/ignorance"?

If nobody protects the rights of teachers then no one will be in classrooms. The real problem are administrators who do not support teachers in the least. Also our society's attitude towards education is just lame.

Teachers Unions have nothing to do with the way a student is education, that is in the mission statement (or philosophy of learning/teaching) of the school. The unions are simply there to protect teachers. The coalminers union doesn't tell them how to mine coal, they make sure they get paid enough, have the safest working conditions possible, etc.

Let's get to the real problem here. Students that don't spend enough time doing their homework and studying, spend hours playing on the computer or their brand new ps3, or whatever other crap was purchased, and then are blaming the teachers.

Children are in school less than half of the time THEY ARE AWAKE each day. And we fit in a meal (two in low income areas) down time each day...while trying to teach them math and science...and deal with parents that don't give a damn about what is going on in school.

The purpose of a union is to negotiate better wages and working conditions, not to implement social policy. There is no racism as there are many minority teachers. There is no ignorance as unions are well aware of poor academic performance of minorities. There is business as usual. The best advocate for minority students are their parents. If your parents neglect their job, you will have a difficult life. Not to forget the student. As Bill Cosby says if you talk like "Where you is" Why you ain't" you will have difficulty getting a job. Students also have the responsibility to study hard and do well in school. Many minorities do well in school. Those who don't have only themselves and their parents to blame. If you wait for unions, the government, leaders such as Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton, it will be years before anything is accomplished. Smart people of all races learn to motivate themslves and stop waiting for others to rescue them.

The teachers "union" is a labor organization supported by teachers' dues. Teaching contracts are financial agreements between the teachers and their employers.

However, various teacher "associations" do work to provide research, training, etc. to address the needs of minority students, both genders, special education students and others. Most teachers attend many workshops and seminars on their own time and dime to better teach all children.

do no longer any of you damn liberals artwork? it quite is web site 26 that I relatively have examine so far right this moment, and not one conservative insult or asking "why, approximately any liberal? yet approximately 30 questions directed to and approximately conservative movements. as far as those risk-free practices forces you point out, you the two understand no longer something of their union contracts, and the severe value to the taxpayer, or you're one in all them. we don't hate them, basically choose them to pay some into their pension and well being care plans. This union crap the place a bum, valueless instructor can't be laid off isn't sturdy for the infants, or the taxpayer, and there are quite some them. Take case in point the union settlement with the positioned up place of work, yet another piece of junk, returned, the positioned up place of work can't downsize, as a results of fact those postal workers have a no layoff clause, so whilst downsizing they could locate jobs for those no longer mandatory and save them on the payroll

Unions negotiate for such things as salaries, benefits, or safe working conditions for their members - the teachers. Teachers pay dues to the union, so that the union can look after tthe best interests of the teachers.
School boards, State Departments of Education and School Districts are the ones to focus your concerns about curriculum and teaching standards.

The "teacher's union" represents teachers, not students and has the best interest of TEACHERS in mind.. They negotiate salary, benefits, etc. on behalf of teachers with the school board/administration. The teachers union does not have anything to do directly with students.
