For me, it has to have been Steve and Edie Gorme covering BLACK HOLE SUN on a lounge music CD from about 10 years ago. It was actually pretty good, but a strange choice of Artist+Material.

Any other examples?

These covers really are funny, but grate on you after a few listens:

This CD features 12 versions of "Stairway to Heaven" that were recorded for the Australian talk show "The Money or The Gun", hosted by Andrew Denton, which ended every episode with a different artist performing that song.

Pat Boone covering Metallica's Enter Sandman. Metallica played by a swing jazz band! Wow! I love metallica, and I love swing jazz, but together? Strange...
OR Apocolyptica, which plays all Metallica's songs on Cellos......
What I would love to hear would be Kung Fu Fighting covered by a hip-hop artist with a smooth voice, like Nelly.

I Love Rock 'N Roll, Joan Jett's cover. No one knows that it's a cover it's actually from The Arrows. Britney Spears once credited it to Pat Benetar. Pretty sad knowing she did a cover of it herself.

blahahahahahahahahaha, now that's hella funny...like a skit from snl huh. i think just about anything the blood hound gang does is funny...weird al...there used to be a native rock & roll artist back in the early 80's named j.d blackfoot. (only got played on rez radio stations) he had some hella funny songs. one was called, you stomped on my heart and mashed that sucker flat. lol. i still crack the hell up whenever i see the old montages of william shatner singing anything. blahahahahahaha. he was so overly dramatic.

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds covered by William Shatner... his spoken-word poetry take on it is both funny and weird.
