Just install the installation disk and restart your computer. You may have to configure your bios to run CD-ROM first when booting up. It may cause you problems if you have an updated windows operating system. Just go to add/remove programs and remove everything before inserting your installation disk and it should work.

It depends.

If this is an extra drive you are adding to you system then, after installing the new drive into your computer, boot up windows, and open My Computer (either on your desktop or in the Start menu).

Right click on the new drive and select Format from the menu.

Choose the file format you want (NTFS is best)

Give your new drive a name

Click format and wait until its complete.

Alternatively, go to the web site for the manufacturer of you new disk and download their disk set up tools as this will automate some of the above for you and may be easier.

If you want to format for root drive (c:) that has windows on it then you need to find you windows CD and reboot with it in the CD drive.

Allow the system to boot from the CD then follow the prompts to format your root drive and reinstall windows,

Hope this helps

Lets assume that you have created or partitioned your hard drive into C: drive and D: drive , and want to format D: drive click on My Computer then alternate click on the D: drive and select Format "from the popup menu".. but before you format it just make sure that you backup any important files that you have in that drive cos, formatting will erase everything on that drive and make it blank.
