If the dampness gets down to the skin, it can cause the skin under the cast to become irritated. In the best case scenario, the irritation can require antibiotics and can complicate keeping a cast on the leg long enough. In the worst case scenario, this leads to gangrene. So try to keep the cast dry, and if it does get wet, go to the vet for a reset, which you should expect to pay for (it's not the vet's fault it got wet...) Good Luck!!

what happens when a cast gets wet the padding in side no longer works which makes the cast loose and the cast will no longer support and if the cast starts to rub on the skin it could make a cut and give an infection i would call the vet right away and tell them what happened so that way you can get a appointment to get the cast removed and redone
p.s. just make sure you dont let the puppy get the cast wet cause trust me the vet bills add up fast

what can happen if the cast gets wet .
if the cast is plaster of par is ( chalky stuff);
, the cast will start to crumble
so becoming loose
twisting around
causing pain
and if not re-applied
This may cause the broken limb to set crookedly
if the cast is of modern plastic resin
it could make the skin under the plaster to get soggy and may cause skin problems
Wooden slates and adhesive tape,
if wet can come adrift .
causing the same problems as a plaster of par is cast.
in all cases
make an appointment to get that plaster checked , by the vet .
Poor puppy !
he is so young to have a broken leg

If it gets really damp it will change shape and the leg will not heal correctly leading to arthritis or lameness in that leg.
Get it checked by the vet - it may need to be recast.
