Absolutely . I NEVER want ANY President, Democrat or Republican, to govern by popularity or whichever way the wind blows .
That's the DEFINITION of a strong LEADER .

I certainly do! A lame duck has nothing to prove to anyone, now he can concentrate on doing his job, and what is best for the country. I'll just bet, that right now he has finally realized that everything bad that has happened in the middle east has been orchestrated in Iran.

Since he has become a lame duck, he need only concentrate on correcting the middle eastern problem. It's becoming quite clear what needs to be done in the middle east, and that is to cut off the head of the snake. What the hell are we waiting for? Is he concerned about Vladimir's reaction? Hell, the only thing he knows what to do, is send his agents around to poison people.

It's time we put this thing to rest, and we can start by destroying the nuclear facilities in Iran, and getting Hezbollah out of Lebanon. I believe it would quiet down in a hurry. Syria, you say! Well, Syria will just climb under the same rock it has been hiding under, right along, because Syria is not going to stand alone, for anyone!

Yes! I do and i am not concerned about the constitution or the Bill of Rights, i am pleased that i can walk around the neighborhood without losing my head. i keep hearing people crying about their rights and i would only guess they are uninformed or they are in support of the terrorists as their party is!! Our President has never cared about the poll ratings and has continued to do what is right for America, even the ones who worship Osama, The Democratic party!!

No, because the president is supposed to represent the people. We are the PEOPLE, he is just the president. And there have been several presidents who got BJs in the Oval Office...some from their African American slaves. No, I don't like Clinton, but a president is elected by the people, for the people, not for himself and his own personal interests.

Yes very much so.Clinton wouldn't take a dump before checking the polls, and because of that, the man did nothing about the first WTC attack, or the USS Cole bombing or the countless embassie attacks all done by Bin Laden. But he DID help Milosviech bomb the hell out of Serbia and drive all of those people out of their homes so Milo could burn them to the ground while Bill was in the oval office banging a fat ugly chick with a Cuban cigar and thinking of new meanings to the word "is".What a fn great guy!!

I think it is a good thing not to be swayed too much by the polls. I think it is even better to be a good President who does the right things, is not hypocritical and is honest. To say Bush does not pay attention to polls is not true. He pays attention to what his religious right base is saying. He should probably pay attention to what the vast majority of American believe. If you believe he is so much smarter than military and international policy experts, then you probably think he should do what he believes.

It would be refreshing if statesmen would clearly state their stands on prevailing issues and stick by them... polls and fluid public sentiments be damned. Throw me out of office if you don't like it. Way too much in recent years of an attitude of "There go my people. I must follow them. I am their leader."

Yes but a real statesman can also convince his people he's right.
Bush seems to make it up as he goes along.
I hate politicians who pay to much attention to the polls but what I hate more are leaders who refuse to admit their mistakes.
