I heard a news item that said that 'tomorrow' was the most misspelt word.

The prime minister spelled it 'tommorow'!!

There's a local shop round our way that sells young plants. Last year they had three Fuchsia boxes, with labels which were all spelt differently and all incorrect. One of them looked very bad.......

Are Greencrocers generally bad spellers? I've noticed some wonderful spellings of vegetables.

I think most of the words on here are mis-spelt at some time or other. Look around you at the poor grammar - NO ONE knows how to spell!!!

Apart from the obvious ones like there/their, no/know, wear/where, hear/here, weather/whether, then I reckon it must be separate but misspelt with an e, seperate. For those not good at spelling word association is a good method to adopt.

Separate = a as in apart
Stationery = e as in envelope
Stationary = a as in Attention! or even car

to name just a few.

Believe it or not - the word most often misspelled - is misspelled!
(Did it yourself!)

I have my own issues with "desiccated" - even the spell checker offered me two alternatives! (the other being dessicated)

The word that can be MOST misspelled and still READ right, phonetically, is scissors. You can spell it sisers, sissers, sisors, sissors, sizzers, etc etc etc and it still SOUNDS right when you read it!

Spelling sizahs wrong could evolve into a party game... and when I say things like that - I realise it must be past my bedtime!

I would hesitate to say this but I think it is the most mispronounced word!

While people MAY have trouble deciding on a spelling for the flower, I think even more would have difficulty SAYING it if they read it for the first time!!
