He'd do just enough chucking of wood to build up his muscles and impress the ladies.

Sadly the ancient rite of wood chucking has died out in the woodchuck community, leaving puny-looking males and disappointed females.

To answer your question specifically, I believe the scientific studies have shown that the amount of wood that a wood chuck COULD chuck is about 12 logs per hour, with a 10 minute snooze between chucks. (Cynics have pointed out that this uses up the whole hour just doing the between-chuck snoozing, but that's the beauty of the sport).
