This is completely normal. Throughout our lives we reflect on what we have done and what we are doing in the future.
I question if I am on the right path periodically. I know I am, but I get unsure. Then I continue on and know I have made the right decision. The unknown is scary to anyone.

Until this year, no, unfortunately, I can't say the same anymore. I have reached a total dead end. I am almost out of high school and I have incredible ambitions, I feel I am destined for greater-than-average things, and I have the motivation and charisma to take me there, although all my interests seem to point to a mediocre life that I really don't find all that appealing. There aren't many well-paying jobs in sociology, philosophy, or in most of the humanities, for that matter, which are all of the liberal arts that used to be the epitome of intellect but are now pushed from the American view. I wish to study in Holland, but things for that are so complicated that I am terrified, even though I really only have to put in my application and wait, there's just so much that i can't even bring myself to write that damned personal statement, which is really the only thing I need to do - anything after that is up to them, I suppose...I guess my dreams are basically all limited by governments, reditions of government, and legislation that keeps me from becoming an automatic citizen of the European Union - perhaps I could get married to a European?

Yes. I believe it would be a very unusual event that someone managed to NOT go through this. My opinion on that is maturity. As you progress through the various stages of life, as you get older, your priorities EVERYTHING about you goes through many subtle as well as major, It happens to us all. If you have to read about the different aspects and facts that are normal for people in you age group. It might help you and answer some questions for you. I am 37 years "young". I know my thoughts, actions, reactions are so different than just 7 or 8 years ago. And the ages before that, like my twenties is almost like a totally different person. We live, learn, grow, age, and whether we like it or not change. some times for the better and some for the worse. It is the human condition . The cycle of life. Hope I helped you in some way⥠Best of luck!

But this is positive. Try to understand that it is meant for you to grow as a human being. Good luck.
