He created a myspace account without telling us(his parents), he won't show us what he has in myspace. I think he's too young to be in myspace. Please advise.

You need to put parental controls on your computer. NOW.

MySpace is a great site if you're an adult, but it is a VERY adult site. There is all kinds of content on there that is NOT appropriate for a ten-year old.

You are the parent, and YOU rule that computer. Even if it was a gift to him, you STILL rule that computer. Ground him from the internet, and take his wireless card away, if he has one. If not, don't make internet connection available to him.

MySpace is NO place for kids. If he cannot abide by YOUR rules of the internet, he obviously is not responsible enough to handle that freedom and shouldn't have it.

If he needs to do research for a report, the internet is a great place for information, but it should always be supervised.

Explain to him, what could happen if the wrong person saw his myspace, and if he won't show you then most likely, there's nothing good on there, so if I were you, I would make him show you or make him delete it, if his myspace shows; last name, address, phone number, or anything personal on it you should have him take it off, and make it private...If he deletes it you should block it and have him find another website that is safer for a young boy like him...and yes, I think he is too young for a myspace too, there is no reason for a young 10-year-old boy to have a myspace, if all he wants on myspace is e-mail, you should get him his own e-mail account so he'll leave myspace alone and left for 18 and older.

Way to young to be using myspace... You really should delete his account. there are to many people in this world that try to coerce young kids into doing stuff... 10 is too young, set up a parental control and block myspace. or create you an account and find his by doing searched like email address and name and try to find his page, then see what he is hiding.... You can never be to protective when it comes to internet and safety of children.

He is too young to use mySpace, he is breaking the user agreement.

I would take away his access to the computer until he is willing to share everything he does online with you. Then before you give access to the computer back I would install some parent spyware as your son has already proven that he is not trustworthy in this regard.

Personally I think 10 is a little young for unsupervised access to a computer.

If you think he is too young, then tell him NO. You are the parent.

My neice has one at 11 and my son has one at 5 (I do all his stuff, he just likes to see comments). My sister has my nieces set to private and approves all her friends for her. Its family and 2 girls from school.

If he wont show you then how do you know he has a myspace? Do you know what email address he used? Report it to myspace they have a section just for that very thing, kids that are TOO young to have a myspace account having one. I think its under contact us on their page. Make him take if off if you dont want him to have one, make him sit down and show you he is deleting it.

You are the parent and its your say weather you want him to have one, of if you have time to police it like my sis does for my niece

Given the fact that he won't show you his my space I would be VERY concerned. This site is not meant for children. I have seen my daughter's my space (she's 15). I'm fine with what she has but some of the comments and other My Space accounts concern me. I monitor my daughter's site randomly.

You can search My Space to find your son's account. Click on the Search tab and select People for your search. Enter your son's name. When the list of names comes up, filter it by your zip code. Depending on how common your son's name is you may still get several pages to search but it will be a lot more manageable.

The bottom line is that it's your home and your rules. I wouldn't want my 10 year old on My Space.

ima sorry to hear that your son is like that, i am gonna stick with him on this im sorry again, you see my parents wont let me have one either, it is because the news blows it out of proportion, myspace does have settings so your friends can only see it, and if you tell your son that if any1 wants to meet him and he doesnt know them to say NO. my friend has one and i sometimes use hers so i can talk to my friends who live far away, my mom told me if i ever get a myspace i would have to move out so i am going to tell you it doesnt have to be public and it seems he is warned enough about sexual and cyber predators on the internet,. myspace has this thing where parents can check what there kids are doin, if you see something you do not like, confront him of it, he may not know he is doing wrong!

Delete it... He is too young for a myspace ... there are a lot of Freaks out there looking for boys his age to manipulate and talk them into meeting.
Its not worth the worry.

You have to be 13 to have a myspace account. Use THAT as an excuse.

If that doesn't work, tell him he can have one as long as YOU can have access to it! BOTH my daughters (14 and 18) have myspace accounts and my "dog" (who has one too) has complete access to BOTH of them!
