Contact lenses would actually be safer. It would be awful if a child got hit in the face and smashed his glasses.

Ask the school if they have a problem as children who wear glasses are picked on effort without being told they cant play ball games and if they say its safetyyou can get glasses for sports anyway just take him or her to the glasses maker and ask for some sports glasses he or she should get them free of charge as school age dont pay, hope this helps.

It depends on which sport, there are sports that if your child wore them they could get damged or even cause injury to him , if this was done would you then take the line that they should not have let him play, see if it is possible for them to allow him to play if he wears sports glasses.

Try talking to the people involved instead of getting up set and come up with a solution to-gether. Talk to other people in the same boat see what they have done. I wear contact lenses they are not too expensive these days and you get used to them very easily. Plus you look loads better, not that i am knocking glasses because i am not, it is just i feel better with mine on. Good Luck.

get glasses that are shadder proof or get recreactional specs. Rec Specs are these specficially designed glasses for ball sports. Child would wear them like anyother glasses. They replace his glasses he would normally wear on the field. You can find them at any glasses maker ie Lens Crafters etc. Your eye doctor should know what to do and what they are for the prescription or whatever.

You have to see it from the teachers point of view. If he was hit in the face by the ball and his glasses shattered, he would most probably be blinded and then you would sue the school for thousands.
Contact lenses may be the way to go

I wore glasses when I played football, I simply took them off to play during the game & for baseball I bought the sports strap to put around the back. All other sports I played, I just wore them. They weren't a distraction.

Contact the Headteacher and say you intend to make a complaint to the Governors and the Local Authority on the grounds of Equal Opportunities.
