The V (for vengeance) missiles were developed by Germany for use against Great Britain. They were mostly targeted at London and Antwerp. Both the V1 and V2 could be launched from occupied France and hit a city sized target with a great degree of accuracy. I had the opportunity to see a V1 rocket (one of I think 3 left) at a museum in the United States a number of years ago. They are quite impressive pieces of machinery for having been built in the 1940's. Unfortunately for the Germans the V series rockets never had a really big effect on the war. They were, however, an important step in the development of modern rocketry and guidance systems. Hope this helps.

Good luck!

V1 was a cruise missile operated by a pulsing jet engine, V2 was a true ballistic missile.
