One thing that I used to think was that I DIDN'T live in America; I used to think I lived in "Tizadee." This was because we used to sing that patriotic song: "My country, Tizadee..."

I also used to think Eggplant Parmesan was called Eggplant Farmer John, because we used to know man named Farmer John and I thought he brought us the eggplant.

When I was born, Nixon was President, and I used to think he was the President because he had 10 kids (which he DIDN'T)!

So what funny misconceptions did YOU have as a child?

I wouldn't eat fried egg yolks because I thought they were "bleeding". I thought the moisturizer my mom put on her face was wrinkle remover, (the clerk at the PX found this hilarious!). I called spaghetti, segetti, potatoes, toppatoes, and lemons, were linnoms. I remember going to a restaraunt with my family, and my dad gave me a bite of his salad...it had bleu cheese dressing! He asked me why I made such a face, and I loudly proclaimed in my 4 year old voice, "it tastes like stink daddy!". The whole restaraunt errupted in giggles, my mom was mortified, and I got a piece of strawberry cake to shut me up.

I used to think that milk would whitewash my teeth if I drank enough and let it get on my teeth while doing so. It wasn't until I got older that I realized it was the minerals inside the milk going into my body that helped produce that effect. Oh, and brushing my teeth. That was a big help, too.

I used to think there as a goldfish living in the drain of the kitchen sink. When the water goes down the drain, there's this little golden circle that flashes. Now I know that's just the water dripping. But when I was a child, I thought it was the mouth of a goldfish wanting to be fed.

I used to think that eating enough spinach would make me incredibly strong very quickly. (Yes, I watched Popeye all the time.) As an adult, I know that's partially true. Spinach and other green veggies are good for health, but they don't necessarily make one strong.

I used to think that when people use the expression, "I am struggling to make ends meet" that they were starving. Why? Because I thought it would be spelled endsmeat. So I just figured that was like potted meat or spam. Yuk. And I would rather starve than eat that.

I used to think if you touched a boy you could get pregnant and vice versa.

I used to think there were monsters under my bed and in my closet.

I used to believe that if people drank alcohol, which I knew to be explosive from watching "Meet Mr. Wizard", and they then lit up a cigarette, that they might explode. When my parents sat around after Holiday drinks, and started to have the after-meal smoke, I was so terrified that I would go hide under my bed, fearing the worst perceivable outcome I could imagine...

when I was a child, I thought that it would be good that there was only females in the world and I to be only male. But I was worried that then the females will capture me as only source of sperm for reproduction and that society will not function.
I was ponder that matter with years and finally come to conclusion: it is good for males to exist in this world to give me money and free labor and females to give me sex.:)))
