I don't think there is one answer for every teenage Parent. Each and everyone has their own reason for being a parent and I don't think it's fair to judge unless you know the circumstances.

I would just like to say that yes, some teenage mothers are not ready for the experience that they are in for. I am 17 and 8 months pregnant- due in January. I didn't plan to have a baby, but I am against abortion, and i do believe that I can handle it. I graduated High School (because of my homeschool program) almost 2 years ahead of my scheduled class. This january will be my one year graduation anniversary. I have lived on my own since last November, and am doing just fine. I attend college, and am only taking off one term for the birth of my baby. Don't stereotype everyone into this group of "teenage parents" because not everyone fits the "mold" that you are describing. I am well-educated, and ready to take on this experience.

I had my first child at 16. (I am now 30)
Unexpected yes... accident No.
I lived at home with my family until I turned 18.
No, I had plenty of friends both before and after I gave birth.
I stayed in school and graduated.
My husband and I own our own business.(and yes, my husband is the father of my first child.. been together 17 years now)
Yes, I grew up knowing that I would have children.. did not think it would be at 16, but sometimes life throws you curves.. and you have to do the best job you can with it.
I now have 4 children and wouldn't change a thing about my life (including becoming a mom at 16)

my friend was 19 when she gave birth.
she didnt have much choice but to get a council house as she had been living in a house with her mum and 3 younger brothers.
she didnt want to move but had to as there wasnt space for the baby.
as for her career she always wanted to work with young children but was struggling to get training.
when her little girl turned 2 she tryed again to get on the training course and got a place as soon as she said she had a young daughter.
the pregnancy was an accident and unexpected but it has done her good in the long run

You have a very dim view on teen pregnancies. Maybe it was an accident, but at least they are facing up to their responsibilities. I had a daughter at 18 and i am not a social misfit or scrounger. I own my own house and I'm a restaurant manager. so there!!!

Not in my case, I didn't have sex till I was 19.
A what? Hell, no!
Well I kind of was already ...
No, far too well educated for most of the troglodytes that wanted to impregnate me.
I always knew what I wanted.
I never wanted to be a parent. And if I ever got any twinges of broodiness, I had my sister's kids around. Antichrists both. Guaranteed natural contraception.
