I'm about 6 months pregnant and have had no complications so far. (I've been very lucky). Starting yesterday afternoon, whenever I breathe deeply, I feel this sharp pain in my chest on the right side. I thought it might be heartburn, but now I'm not so sure. Has anyone else felt this way? Any advice?

No, it's not anything anyone said, it's called "round ligament pain."

The ligaments that hold your uterus in place connect inside your rib cage. The baby is getting heavier and these ligaments are pulling on your ribs. It feels like someone is stabbing you in the high rib area, right? Use a hot water bottle and LIE DOWN. Also you can take Advil (until 28 weeks--not after that because it is a blood thinner and can cause severe bleeding if you should go into early labor). 2 Advil will get rid of it. The pain will come and go (usually at the end of the day when you've been walking a lot).

See babycenter.com link on round ligament pain, below.

Oh yes, i am 7 months and just got over that same thing. My doc said it was most likely hormones, i guess at this stage your hormone levles rise again... the discomfort can also be elevated by any small cold or dust you get in your lungs. I would see your doc just to be sure, but he will probably tell you the same. It went away on it's own. I took a hot shower and it seemed to help.

You should go to the doctors to be sure that it isn't anything like a blod clot in lung- if it is, there is treatment availible, so don't worry.
It could just be that you are uncomfortable because ALL you organs have to move to make room for a growing baby...but you should go and get checked out just for reassurance :)

Good luck, and congratulations on your pregnancy:)

OK listen to me, I had this with my pregnancies. You need to get checked for preeclampsia. Call you doctor and explain exactly how you are feeling. I started getting pain on my right side my blood pressure started to go up and it turned into preeclampsia. It's always best to rule on the side of caution with this. But let's hope that it might only be the babies foot in your rib.

okay the person above just said you can take advil? dont do that, i just talked to the doctor and a pharmacist and they both said no advil, only tylenol. so if you need to take something, stick with tylenol or ask your own doctor before taking advice from all of us in case it is serious.

The baby is taking alot of room and pushing on all organs including your lungs. It is normal.
Congratulations!!!

NEVER EVER take advil ( or any ibuprofren) when you are pregnant. It is a blood thinner.
if anything use regular strength tylenol.
