As I was working on my computer, it got restarted with the following error appearing with a blue screen.
" A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for updates. Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Start up options, and then select safe mode.

See if you can restart normally; if not, begin immediately to burn your data to CD's and DVD's. Be aware that in safe mode all antivirus programs are disabled.
And try To use System Restore to get your computer to an earlier time when you didn't have this problem.( Start/Programs/Accessories/ System Tools /System Restore

I've had that error message before and I chose to just restart the computer. All worked well and I found no problems. In my case I guess it was a false alarm? I took this action because I had just done a full back up and would lose nothing should the computer crash.
Good Luck

try using system restore and put it back to a date when it was last working. Im grasping at straws on that one though.
