The DAV College trust and its managing committee was established in 1886 to promote the ideals of Swami Dayanand Saraswati. Swami ji was of the firm opinion that unless there was widespread education in the society there would be no relief from exploitation and injustice. Based on this ideology, the managing committee of the trust started the first DAV school in Lahore in 1886. The school became the ideal meting ground for traditional Indian wisdom and modern scientific thought. "Anglo" stood for the western brand of education and the traditional Indian Knowledge and philosophy - "Vedic" came together as two streams of thought in one glorious movement. This was totally in consonance with the name of the trust - DAV.
