Indian National Congress was started by a Scotsman A.O.Hume in 1885 with other educated Indians to get inducted in the governance of the Country under the British. Its first president was W.C.Banerjee. Slowly INC became a platform for uniting various groups of political thinking from Radical to Moderates, and Extreme Left to Rightists. It accepted every shade of opinion towards obtaining freedom of the Country. It became a movement involving almost all communities Hindu, Muslim, Sikhs, Parsis, Christians etc. There were great Leaders like B.G.Tilak, Dadabhai Naoroji, Bipin Chandra Pal, Gokahle and others . M.K.Gandhi joined after the I world war. Mohamed Ali Jinnah and E.V.Ramaswami Naicker of Dravidian Movement were also Leaders of INC. Rajaji, S.C.Bose,G.B.Pant, Rajendra Prasad, Vallabhbhai Patel T.Prakasam apart from Nehruji were in INC only. Leaders from every part of the Country joined INC to take part in the Freedom struggle. After Independence Gandhiji suggested disbanding INC, since it had achieved its object. But it was not accepted.
After Independence the leaders of INC started losing the spirit of sacrifice. After passing away of the great Leaders INC also started breaking and losing its ideals. The present political outfit under the name of INC is nothing to do with the ideals of Indian National Congress.
