I have 5 kids and thaught that instead of having a car, I would have a horse and cart like in paint your wagon, but will it be expesive to keep a horse and where can I leave it when I go shopping to asda? Are there old laws that will help me, then ill be doing what the goverment want and I wont have to pay as i go, also the kids say they would love it. Is this at all practical?

I would say go for it, why not! In ASDA it would attract more attention than a £100,000 Ferrari, but the horse and cart would never cost quite as much as all that Italian style!
You could sell organic horse manure too in ASDA's car park, for £2 a bag, this would buy a few loaves of bread for your hungry family.
On Sundays you could go RAG-BONE collecting for which you do not need a licence at all.
Have you also considered the money you could make by hiring your carriage out for weddings too? £500 a time I would say!!

Not better nowdays because there are no facilities for parking horse and carts.Too much traffic on the roads.
It would be nice to go back to the old days when lots of people did it and there was less worries about what type of car to buy petrol or diesel black or green etc.
We moved too fast from the days of the horse and car to mercs.TVs Satelites etc but we are not happier.
What will it be like in our childrens time

Gypsy`s did it for years, so why not, trouble finding a parking space though, I wonder if you would be able to use the bus lane and then again think of the manure, horses are expensive in as much that you have to have them shod and the vet bills are not cheap, Gordon Brown would soon come up with a tax for them anyway

Against the law here to drive a horse in the city unless its in a parade or something. Would not be practical today. Too bad.

i think buying a horse is far better as with cart you might will get alot of problem like parking, on the road but a single horse is far bettrer than a car as its too expencieve and also oil getting more and more expencieve.
