If you don't know the difference, you are excused from the debate.
And, is the answer to that question THE factor behind the statistical (racial) crime disparities?

OK, I'll EXCUSE YOU from the debate then. It's too bad to as I think it would have been a good debate.

Unfortunately, there does exist in this country a "discretionary justice system." Minorities and the poor are not treated equally by police officers, judges, and prosecutors. Rates of arrest, incarceration, and prison sentencing can be directly correlated with race and income levels. In an equal justice system these rates would be directly correlated with illegal conduct. There are numerous studies which substantiate these claims.

There is evidence that violent crime rates have dropped in this country . This evidence should show a similar drop in arrest and incarceration levels. The opposite has occurred.

Unfortunately, poverty, lack of adequate health care, safe access to an education, etc, are all indicators for future criminal behavior.

There is no doubt that poverty spawns crime. Many minority groups not only suffer with the largest rates of poverty, but also rates of becoming a victim of crime, and disparities in unequal treatment by the justice system.

i think that minorities still experience racial prejudice and that they are accused before the white man is. i am sorry to label colors but that is what it is. i myself am an interracial person with european and asian blood. i have not been arrested nor accused of any crime but i see it a lot on tv, news, fiction, books, magazines. its like this in the usa theres some asians and mexicans trying to act black. trying to have a little gang of their own with initiation. my uncle who is filipino-spanish was killed working in a subway in whittier--the culprits were 3 mexicans who needed to steal money and kill someone to get in a gang. my other uncle filipino-irish-spanish and american heritage was shot by a korean in his own house! i am not blaming african american people for this and i am not making a generalization about the races i mentioned above but look at some of them they try to act black by dressing all hip hop, smokin up, doing all the gang stuff its not even funny. some asians are trying to be something that they are not. as for the russians/italians are accused of being in the mob or something. to answer your question i think the caucasian man does a lot too but yes and yes. some minorities are poorly educated and unemployed--they don't know better and commit crime. on the other hand some do it to be cool(duh!) and lastly some are just plain mischievous and have a problem with authority. i think that since the rate of crimes commited by minorities was astounding considering the fact that they have a small population/community is what tends to keep authorities on the look out and causes them to easily point he finger and accuse. this is a very sensitive topic. i have nothing against other races and nothing else to say.

More info would have been useful.

Poor uneducated people commit crimes and get arrested...no matter what colour they are.

Poor people are hardly a minority.

In general, the rich keep the poor...poor...so that they can get richer.

So the rich is as much to blame as it is creating the situation.

If you are looking for a black and white answer...there is no such thing. If there was...it would be easy to solve the problem.

I don;t believe they commit any more crimes than others, but the situations lead for them to get arrested more often. It could even be the 80-20 Law (80% of crimes are caused by 20% of the people).

They are just more visible when it comes to that, as opposed to crimes that are more subtle and less detectible

I think Democrats in general commit more crimes regardless of statistics. Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton are perfect examples.

Im afraid to say that minorities say for example black do commit more crime...
this is because they are more likely to come from the lower classes and are poorer.. ( have not been given the same opportunities as the white people) .
either because of prejudice or because they are new immigrants,, or because of their culture. ( i.e Foreign Criminals are more likely to come to easy pickings such as UK)

In my home town, blacks make up about 10% of the population. Yet in the local newspaper on Sunday when they show pictures of fugitives with outstanding warrants, half of them are black. (They only show 8 pictures a week.) Every week without fail.
Now as far as I'm concerned that is enough evidence for me to believe that blacks commit more crime.
Also, look at the prison population. Mostly black. I rest my case.
