Japanese style of cartoons. There is a lot in variety, and there should be a suitsble genre for everyone. Mine is consistent of shonen..currently now Bleach.
Examples are like Ranma 1/2 , Inuyasha, Bleach, Naruto, Chobits sorta...

You asked this in the comics and animation section. Anime is short for animation and animation is movies with characters that are drawn as cartoons rather than real people. Anime has been done most successfully by the Walt Disney Studio in USA - but most now is done in Japan. Some is really good and most is just stupid.

It's basically a tag for Japanese animated films. E.g. Akira, Project A-Ko, Ghost In The Shell, Spirited Away, and many more. (Keep on eye on Film4, they did a season a while ago, they may repeat it.)
But please don't dismiss them as kids films or just for teenagers, there's a wide range to view.
