Do you mean camera photo paper? You can print on lots of different types of paper, there's just no guarantee that it will be lightproof or last very long.
Some papers are absorbant and you get a soft or fuzzy print, useless for text but great for special effects.
Check your manual for the weight of paper that your printer can handle and don't try to feed in anything heavier, otherwise you can try it and see what the results are. I use watercolour and cartridge paper as well as other stuff, if it will feed through then it won't damage the printer.

You can, but choose file... print rather than clicking any toolbar button to print. This will bring up a dialog box in which you might be able to specify the dpi to use and what kind of paper.

Yes you can. You can even buy ink made just for photos.
