Its something that happens within a couple of seconds and what ever you are doing, you somehow feel you've done it before.
I kinda think that somehow you have done it before but possibly in you're dreams, like your subconcious trying to warn (Not bad way) you of what things happen. Its like when I had a dream of a plan crashing into a house, I woke up, watched the news and it happened in reality. Its happened many many times.

It's French for "Already Seen." It comes in two forms: that something you're presently doing is something you've done before, and that something is about to happen.
Some years ago, while driving, I had a strong deja vu that I was about to be hit by a yellow sedan running through a red light. Sure enough as I approached the intersection, I stopped cold, and a yellow sedan ran a red light. If I hadn't had that deja vu I'd be dead now. True story.

It is the encounter with the space-time continuum, the envelope of our dimension when it is permeable with another dimension. This gives us the sense that we have occupied this space before (which is true) only it was standing in this space perhaps three "life-times" ago.
