I want to know if someone put gasoline instead of diesel in my generator. I'm use to seeing dark yellow fuel in it and now the muffler is red hot

I think you maybe right. The Muffler should not be that hot. Don`t chace futher damage, drain the tank and start over. Diesel cools and lubes the engine and Gas will destroy a diesel engine quick.

They may have put gas in it. Drain it all out and put in diesel. Get the off road stuff with the red dye and then you will be able to tell better next time. Also get a locking cap so that only you can get into the tank.

drain the fuel tank and refill it with diesel.I would use died fuel because there isn't road tax on it .That is why it is red. you can use home heating fuel in it to it will work the same.I use both in my generator.gas will make the engine run to hot and it will lock up .and a locking fuel cap is a good idea

Well I remember my Dad had purple diesel on the farm. Everclear is a great band. My favorite song by them is AM Radio.
