I'm a freshman at a NYC high school, and I want to know what classes, extracurriculars, etc. I should take. Is it true that if you go to Harvard University (for the regular undergraduate program) it will be harder to get into Harvard Med ( because its hard to get a high GPA at Harvard)? How hard is it to get into Harvard Med? What stats do you need to have?

In additional to high academic achievment and a great scoreon the MCAT, it really boils down to a crap shoot. Some of the brightest students are rejected over lesser quality students. Med schools like everything else is political, and who you know.

Come out of the university with a killer GPA, Ace the MCAT and get a reference from an alumnus or 4...*PRESTO*, you're in! If you want to save time, have your Uncle Harry make a tax-deductible $1Million donation to research dept in the family name. They like that kind of stuff, too...
