first has he shown in any way that he has an interest in you if not just be friends that is more important than having a boyfriend see what happens be patient

be friendly..take note on his interests..ask him hows his day been..what his doing over the weekend..share interests.. be yourself and enjoy the friendship before deciding to date him since he might freak out..goodluck

tell him don't hesitate or be afraid. maybe he likes you to and is to shy to say. go for it if he doesn't like you well there are other guys out there .
