Ovulation is the egg being released from the ovary, without the egg you can't make a baby. Therefore you MUST ovulate in order to become pregnant.
Some woman have periods but don't ovulate therefore they cannot conceive.

Pregnancy only occurs when a sperm fertilizes an egg. In order for that to happen (without IVF) an egg must be released. This is known as ovulation. The chances of getting pregnant increase if you have sex several days prior to ovulation. Maybe that is what you were told...

You cannot get pregnant if you are not ovulating. Ovulation is when the body releases the egg to be fertilized. No ovulation = no egg = nothing to be fertilized and become a child.

I guess, then, that you could definitely say ovulation increases the chance of pregnancy since you can't get pregnant without it! :)

Yes, in order to get pregnant naturally, you must ovulate. Because if you don't ovulate, there will be no egg released, and without an egg, sperm will just die off.

Of course, if you are having problems ovulating, there are many other ways of getting pregnant today.

ovulating means you release an egg from your ovary. So it would make sense that if you don't ovulate, you won't get pregnant.

Hope this helps!
