It's a little confusing, but here's how it works in win2000.

If you want to see the thumbnails in a directory, you first have to change the directory to allow you to see thumbnails.

For instance, if the directory containing the pictures is:

C:\My Documents\My Pictures

You need to go to the parent directory

C:\My Documents

Then right-click on the folder labeled My Pictures, pull down to Properties. Then click the box that says "Enable Thumbnail View".

Kind of silly, isn't it?
