I was just thinking, because many things that were celebrated, accepted and remembered are becoming less and less important. Does anyone feel that there is one rule for us and one rule for others? I didn't mean to really offend anyone I just hate the fact that most English people I know don't even know when St.Georges day is, and yet we get taught about divali in school?
How does that work?

Nope, our culture is changing, and it isn't due to immigration. How many parents are teaching their kids when St. Georges day is? How about how to speak properly? 'innit' is not a word. What about how to behave around other people or in social situations. We aren't doing anything to pass on our history and heritage and people are trying to blame the government and the school when it isn't their responsability. School is supposed to teach children the thigns they need to know to get along in the world and get a job, it's up to parents if they want to teach heritage and culture.

South Wales has been a center of immigration for two centuries, Merthyr Tydfil attracted immigrants from as far as Southern Italy. Many Irish arrived following the potato famine. South Wales voted against a national Welsh assembly. North and West Wales being more rural has maintained itself as a Welsh speaking society. Due to the protests of Welsh language campaigners, Welsh citizens have the right to study through the medium of Welsh, go to a Welsh speaking counter in a post office and have all legal proceedings carried out in the Welsh language.
I would think the English may be jealous of the way the Welsh have maintained their cultural heritage. There is nothing wrong with learning about Diwali this is like Christmas for the Hindus - (Ramsey is confused here it is not Muslim), St George's day is of little significance for the English, but there is Christmas, Halloween, New Year, Easter, May Day instead.... this is part of your cultural heritage,

I'm from Scotland but live in England. I think what you are saying about certain things declining are true but i think it has absolutely nothing to do with immigrants. It to do with the fact that people don't care anymore, look at the teenagers in this country most of them care more about what they wear, where they are going on Friday night, who slept with who, you cant tell me that they act that way because of immigrants. Most immigrants to this country aren't trying to change it. Its all the PC do gooders who "think" certain people are going to be insulted etc but the reality is the immigrants are never asked there opinion on anything. Well i can tell you where i live on St. Georges day no it was not made a big deal but ill tell you everywhere you looked when England was in the world cup, St Georges flags everywhere, on cars, houses, shops, tea shirts, jewelry even girls nails. So what really is important to this country? To fly flags when it suits you or when it suits the traditions. The youth in this country are simply not interested. Immigrants are not interested in changing this society and traditions of this country, nothing to do with them. Just look at your high street on a Friday and Saturday night, is it full of drunk immigrants fighting and falling over drunk, giving BJ's in the middle of the street or is it full of Britain's youth doing that. 16/25 year olds don't care, sad but a fact.

I just came in to see what this is all about, ma'am.

I can see what you mean, ma'am.

The immigrant Muslims made a lot of hooha about our using "God" ; because it offended them as a praise to the Christian God and not their Allah. They even went all out against "Merry Christmas" and "Happy New Year", because they're Christian!? And they now want special prayer rooms pointing to Mecca for them at our Airports!?

Seems that England has already caved in and given them this, ma'am.

Well, most Americans don't care if it's Politically Incorrect so, we carry on saying "God Bless America"!

Looks like it's time you English took your Country back from the Pakistanis, ma'am. It's becoming a suburb of Karachi, there.

Merry Christmas.
