in principle thats a great idea, in practice its an awful one.

The fact remains that its impossible to determine someone elses intention - you dont always know whether a payer has gone to ground deliberately or by accident; there are some cases which are stonewall, but where do you draw the line - and if you dont know where to draw the line, is it fair to penalise some and let otehrs off the hook?

There were some great examples yeterday - Ronaldo clearly dived twice in the United gage, i.e. there were two situations were the players who 'fouled' him simply did not make any contact with him, and where he started to dive before they had even started to make a taclke - BUT what do you do about the van Persie or Rosicky penalties in Arsenal v Spurs - it is impossible to tell from the replays of either of those incidents whether or not a penlaty was the 'fair' result - in both isntances the player had clearly been impeded and yet, in neither case, could you say for 100% certain whether the players who went down had done so on purpose or purely as a result of being fouled - so it would be unfair to intriduce a system whereby players are given bans after games until you can be certain in every isntance.

Absolutely YES YES YES. The managers should get together if the FA wont and say if any league player dives we'll fine them a minimum 2 weeks wages. If it significantly changes the outcome of a game, then fine them 4 weeks money. I wonder how keen they will be to spread eagle themselves all over the penalty box then. I'm with you 100%. Honest fans who pay their money, want to see an honest game of football!

Not only should the player be banned but if a point were deducted from the team as well Managers would take more responsibility for their players actions.

the best and only way is to use replys if just for incidents in the box and the ref can then be 100%, he has time to ask a linesman why not another official who is watching on screen. But the divers do themselves no favours as they get a reputation and could go against them.

Good idea in principle but don't you think that there are that many players doing it that it could come to a stage where a team would not be able to play their stars because they would be banned
