Hey Italian Gurl - hope you've got a good excuse for this question. I'm from Greece originally and live in the UK - I've never been to America and have no relatives there..........but even I knew the answer was George Washington.

Also I Googled "first president usa" coz I was wondering how you got "nothing" when you did it. I think you must have had your computer switched off. The first thing that came up was a heading that said "George Washington (1732-1799), First President of the USA"

Hmmm I can honestly say that I was not there when he was "Allegedly elected but, through the grapevine I have heard that it was George Washington. As a young lad Sir George was a juvenile delinquent as he was known to have wandered around with an axe and was to have been known to have chopped down a cherry tree. But despite all that he was elected to become the very first President of the United States of America. At least that is what I read after Googling First President of USA.
But it could have been all a big conspiracy that the Government is perpetrating and is actually covering up who the REAL president was.

The first US President was George Washington, followed by John Adams #2, Thomas Jefferson #3, James Madison #4, James Monroe #5. John Quincy Adams who was Pres #2's grandson was # 6.

I would never tell someone who was asking for History of my country to Google it. (I don't use Google much) And I answered this question from memory. I learned to name all the presidents we had had up to that time when I was in 5th grade and that has been so long ago, I'd hate to say and I still remember a lot of them. [Just a little brag, lol]

But I did go to Webcrawler, where I tend to find much better research material, to get a site for you if you would like more info on all the US Presidents.

This question was addressed a few days ago by CALY925, who pointed out that George Washington was only the first President under the Constitution. Prior to that were "The Articles of Confederation" under which there were seven Presidents, the first of whom was a John Hanson. Another was Henry Lee - father of the Confederate commander in Virginia. I acknowledge that most of that was quoted from the member I named in my first sentence

Must be a very special Google you've got. I put in "first president" and got it immediatly. Although, of course, I already knew the answer - George Washington.
