Nobody should get a provi loan for anything if they can help it. Have you got a credit union near you? You get a loan for a maximum of 2% per month on the reducing balance this means that £300 paid back over 48 weeks will cost you only £7 per week maximum, allow also a minimum of £1 for savings and you're always better off at the end than you were at the beginning. Compare that with provvy rates.

70% of the country is now geographically covered by credit unions, whereabouts are you? look on the ABCUL website for the nearest to you, but don't give up until you find one which you can join, there are all sorts of ways of qualifying for membership apart from geographically.

DO NOT GET A LOAN Christmas is around the corner can't you wait, the pay back on the loan would buy you an other pair

Provident is a rip off. Your far more better saving up for a pair yourself. Every 100 pound you lent you like pay back double on interest. It is so not worth it.

i agree it is an expensive way to borrow and once the provvy have you on their books they dont wanna let you go you will end up with loans on top of loans.
also i have heard that their favourite ploy is to get you half way through your loan and then offer you a top up loan . therefore you are effectively paying two lots of interest on half of your original loan value.
