I read the article about ev training. Basically as I understand, you can boost specific stat on one pokemon by battling just one type of pokemon exclusively.

So I try to raise a "SPECIAL ATTACK" stat on one of my pokemon. It is a newly caught pokemon. So I have not done any battle yet with it.

I battled only Golduck, which give 2 ev points on special attack.
I've beaten a total of 90 golducks.
So theoretically, 90 golducks at 2 ev points each = 180 ev points.
Since 4 ev points equal 1 point in the stat change
180 ev points divided by 4 equal 45 stat points.

My math is right. I checked.
However, what I dont understand is, my pokemon does NOT gain anywhere near 45 points increase on its special attack.

In fact, my pokemon's special attack now is only 34.
This confuses me. Since if I understand correctly, my pokemon should have at least special attack of 45 points plus its base stat.

Please help. If anyone knows the answer to my problem.
All help is much much app

From my understanding, the formula of 4 EV = 1 stat point also relies on the Pokémon being level 100. If the Pokémon is lower than level 100, the gain will not be a strict conversion. You are not losing stat points, however. As you level towards 100 your stat gains will become greater and greater for each new level. When you do finally reach 100, the 4 EV = 1 stat point conversion will be realized. If your Pokémon is already at level 100, you will need to reset its EVs. To do this, you must give it certain berries which will lower his/her EV by ten:

Pomeg, HP
Kelpsy, Atk
Qualot, Def
Hondew, S.Atk
Grepa, S.Def
Tamato, Spd

After you lower all the EVs (there is no way that I know of to check what the current EVs are) you then must then EV train the Pokémon. The stats will not change right away, though. After you have trained it to a satisfactory level, place it in to a box and then withdraw it again and the stats will be recalcuated to the current EVs.

Keep in mind that the maximum amount of EVs you can gain is 510, and the most you can put on one stat is 255 (but you should only put 252 on since 255/4 will give the same result interally as 252/4).

Hope this helps.

It does make a distinction on the stats it is utilized to. the suited tim to commence is once you get the pokemon, the previously the battery. totally vitamined mean you purely positioned 10 supplementations in each stat that is a waste seeing that 2-3 of those stats might want to be ineffective to it. As for time-honored time it would want to take a three-4 hours doing it the puzzling way yet and specialist on it would want to do it in about quarter-hour. the quantity of finished EV's a stat can get is 255 with 510 time-honored so that you'll max out 2 stats. at the same time as it contains EXP percentage it would want to get 0.5 the suited EV's rounded up. If it takes section contained in the conflict it would want to income the finished quantity.
