I lready have a chevy 350 runnnig on a TH350 but it in terrible shape. I also have the option of a V6 from the 90's. please advise.

If it's already set up for a Chevy engine and not the 301 Pontiac. You can go as big as 400 small block. You will need to change the flex plate and harmonic balancer. Other than that I still prefer the 350. You run less risk of overheating and you already have a rebuildable engine.

I agree with the 350. Plus there's way more you can do with a 350. Look in a Edelbrock or Holley or any other aftermarket parts makers catalogs. Most of the stuff in there is for 350s.

an 81 trans am was not set up for a big block you will have to change alot of stuff before you cand do that, motor mounts, front coil springs, exaust headers, transmission, so thats really expensive and time consuming. in my opinon just rebuild the 350

you can put a 400 in it just have to change motor mounts i did that to my 1979 firebird
