I prefer that someone IS who he IS.

So to answer your question, you are born straigh, gay or bisexual. You find it all over nature and not just in humans.
People who are born gay and try not to be will never be fully happy. They will become absolutely frustrated.

If you yourself are straight, then compare it to how you would feel if you would have to live your life pretending to love (and have sex with) your own sex, and never being able to have sex with the other gender.

There is much conflicting scientific studies. The best conclusion to be drawn from this is that there is more than one cause for homosexuality. Some are genetically homosexual, some are biologically homosexual by error in development, some become homosexual through childhood, and maybe some actually choose. But what's important is the idea of multiple mechanisms.

However, the question is irrelevent. Genetics, womb, childhood, choice, none are relevent to how we as a society treat homosexuals. Everyone who is deserving of our respect deserves our respect.

And for the idiots who say "Homosexuals dont deserve our respect", you're the ones who don't deserve our respect. Or our attention to your childish hate.

Didn't quite get your opening question so i'll move on, I am heterosexual.

I beleive that sexual orientation works on a scale, that some people are biologically more pre-disposed to either homosexuality, heterosexuality or bi-sexuality but this is not fixed at birth and social situations and personal decisions cause them to make their final decision.

I beleive this because it seems a possible conclusion from psychological and biological evidence that has been carried out on the subject and may explain why a consensus has never been reached. and it agrees with me personally that people are not ruled by their genetics or social upbringing but these things merely nudge you and it is still in your control to choose how you live and make yourself happy.

I tend to believe that homosexuality is an orientation one is born with due to the nature in which one is raised, many scientists have set out to prove that lack of a father figure or male relatives can cause homosexual tendencies.

I myself am homosexual (and hate the word gay because it has now become derogatory in meaning) and it often intrigues me why i am how i am, good question!

I believe homosexuality is a genuine abnormality and not a chosen lifestyle.

There are many theories as if it is generic, environmental or other causes.

I think homosexuals should be accepted for who they are and judged in the same way heterosexual people are.

I am of the belief that you are either born with this preference or later in life, it is a lifestyle choice one makes based on personal experience.

I don't believe people are "born" that way. I believe it is %100 personal choice. I know scientists say they have found something in the brain that determines sexuality, but how many "straight" people's brains have they checked?

Why does it matter?

The fact is some people are gay, some are straight and some are bisexual.

Get over it.
