Aim for a little village near Dorking in Surrey called SHEER. All the villages and surrounding area is beautiful, including popping up to box hill for some of the best views in Surrey!

I can't speak for the London area, but if you go to the Midlands and want a wonderful country drive, go to a little town named Milldale, several miles northwest of Darby. You'll be tranported back about two centuries!
