i have a collection of readers digest condensed books. there are a total of 168 books ranging from the late 40's until current times. do they have any value indiviually? how about as a collection?

I don't think they have any value. I had a large collection myself (all in great condition), I couldn't even sell them to a second hand book store.
The trouble is there are so many of them, it makes them quite worthless.
I ended up donating mine to the local hospital and nursing homes.
You could try them on Ebay, the fact that some are quite old may be a selling point, good luck with them.

I doubt very much if these books have any real value after all they are abridged "or condensed" so significant parts of them have been removed .No serious reader would buy any book which had been mutilated in this manner.

While I am not fond of this type of book, I want to say that I saw an offering on Abebooks.com of one of these, not a collection, asking for over $400.

I doubt if they are worth anything much, though some of the early one's might have some value due to their age. It all depends on condition & content.
